Edisi Aktiviti Maktab : Merentas Desa

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wbt.

Adios!

6. Which of the following is not correctly matched between the eye part and its function?
    Parts of the eye        Function
A    Sclera                         Protects the eye and keeps its shape
B    Pupil                          Control the amount of light entering the eye
C    Retina                        Detects light stimulus and converts it into nerve impulse
D    Yellow spot               The most sensitive part towards light

7. Which part of the ear vibrates when sound waves strike it?
A    Ossicles
B    Semi-circular canals
C    Cochlea
D    Eardrum

8. Which of the following shows the correct pathway of light entering the eye?
A    Cornea  →  Aqueous humour  →  Pupil  →  Lens  →  Vitreous humour  →  Retina
B    Cornea  →  Vitreous humour  →  Pupil  →  Lens  →  Aqueous humour  →  Retina
C    Cornea  →  Pupil → Aqueous humour → Lens → Vitreous humour → Retina
D    Cornea  →  Pupil  →  Vitreous humour  →  Aqueous humour  →  Lens  →  Retina

Edisi Nota : Human Eye

1. The sense of sight is the sense that can detect light stimulus.
2. Structure of the human eye:
§  the sclera (outermost)
§  the choroids (middle) and
§  the retina (innermost)

1. The lens in the human eye is a transparent convex lens.
2. An inverted image is focused on the retina.
3. Light rays are refracted by the eye lens. The eye lens focuses the image onto the retina by changing the thickness of the eye lens. The thickness of the lens is changed by the ciliary muscles.
·        Focusing near objects.
§  To focus near objects onto the retina, the ciliary muscles contract. The eye lens become thicker.
·        Focusing distant object.
§  To focus distant objects onto the retina, the ciliary muscles relax. The eye lens becomes thinner.

Edisi Nota : Nose

1.  The nose is sensory organ for smell.
2.  Cells sensitive to smell (smell receptors) are found on the top of the nasal cavity.
3.  Structure of the human nose.
a.          The human nose has a cavity lined with epithelium tissue.
b.          On the surface of the epithelium tissue are the sensory cells known as olfactory cells.
c.           The surface of the nasal cavity is moist because of the mucus secreted by the cells of a gland.
d.          The nasal cavity has a pair of external opening (nostrils) which have hair to filter dust from the air inhaled through the nose.
4.  When we have a cold or flu, a lot of mucus is produce. The smell receptors are surrounded by this thick layer of mucus and very little of chemical vapor gets to the smell receptors. Therefore, the smell receptors do not get stimulated enough to effectively function as a sensory organ of smell. The sensitivity of the nose towards stimuli is influenced by the following factors:
i.            The strength of the smell. A stronger smell will be detected by the nose easily compared with a weaker smell.
ii.          The presence of mucus in the nose. A lot of mucus will reduce the sensitivity of the nose.

Edisi Eksperimen : Korek mata lembu. Eeee

Selamat belajar!

Edisi Nota: Human Ear

1)   The human ear is the sense organ that is sensitive to sound stimuli produced by vibrating object.
2)     A human ear has three main parts.
a)     The outer ear, filled with air.
b)     The middle ear, filled with air.
c)     The inner ear, filled with liquid.

Edisi Nota : Skin

Structure of human skin:
a)     The skin divided into 3 layers; epidermis, dermis, fat layer.
b)     Receptors are cell in our body that detected stimuli.
c)     Our body have different types of receptors. These are:
·       pain receptor
·       receptor
·       heat receptor
·       cold receptor
·       pressure receptor

d)     The pain receptor is in the epidermis.
e)     The touch, heat and cold receptors are in the dermis.
f)      The pressure receptors are in the fat layer.
g)     Each type of receptor can detect only one particular stimulus.
h)     The part or our body contain receptor are called sensory organs
i)      These receptor have nerves attached to them

The degree of sensitivity of the skin depends on the:

1)     Thickness of epidermis
·       The thinner the epidermis, the more sensitive the skin is to the stimulus
2)     Number of receptors present
·       The more receptors found on the skin the more sensitive is that part of the skin.

Edisi Nota : Topic 1

Topic 1 The World Through Our Senses

Our senses detect stimuli and we respond.Human have receptors or sense organs such as:

Skin
  • responds to touch, pressure, pain, heat and cold.
Tongue
  • responds to chemical in our food and drink . It gives us our sense of taste
Nose
  • responds to chemical in the air . It gives us our sense of smell.
Ears
  • respond to sound vibrations and movements. They give us our sense of hearing and our balance.
Eyes
  • respond to light rays. They give us our sense of sight.
Nervous pathway from stimulus to response:
Stimulus → Sensory organs → Sensory nerves → Brain → Motor nerves → Response

Buku Latihan Sains Tingkatan 2

The world through our senses hingga Bab 2 Nutrition.
